But why does he strangle people if he's a werewolf and not maul them like a wolf would?

The only night there was a full moon he did.... Sookies Gran... The other ones were not on full moon nights... But he still murdered them due to their being close to vampires and in my thinking him seeing them as threats to be turned. He does not want to see their numbers increase... Just as the vamps don't want their numbers decreased....

Yeah good thinking, so you think he killed them all as a human except for Sookie's gran which he killed as a werewolf. Very possible.............
