It seems to me this fight is going to happen. Calzaghe and Taylor were put on HBO on consecutive weeks. In the past, Calzaghe has called out Taylor as the kind of big fight that he's after, and after last night, Taylor stock is way up. Taylor vs Calzaghe would be a bigger money fight than a Dawson fight, and if he could make 168 for the fight, it would a pretty impressive thing to defend his Ring title in two divisions on consecutive fights.

It's a no-brainer for Taylor at this point, if Calzaghe is willing to take the fight. He can lose to Calzaghe and still get good fights at 168 with Kessler, Bute, or Froch. Nobody will think less of him for losing to Joe. From Joe's standpoint, it's great final payday and it's a fight he should win.

The only question is does Joe want to see Taylor go out and pick up a soup belt at 168 before giving him a shot, but I think the timing is perfect.
