We know from previous experience Hatton was out of his league at 147.
I've never understood this argument. It may have been relevant when Hatton fought Collazo, but it doesn't make sense when applied to the Mayweather fight. PBF started at a much lower class than Hatton, and he has never been a true welter in terms of his weight. Even when he fought at 154, he came into the ring weighing 150, less than Hatton weighs (on fight night) for many of his fights which take place at 140.

Hatton lost to Floyd, and always will lose to Floyd, because Mayweather is superior in every single aspect of the game, including (as was demonstrated) fighting dirty.

The ref is also inconsequencial, Hatton was being dominated on the inside and was beat conclusively at his own game. They could fight at any weight and PBF would win.
Mayweather had fought and proven multiple times he could mix it and look good at welterweight and was a threat at 147.

Hatton had 1 fight at 147 and TBH looked complete shit in it and nearly got KNFO.

A fight at 140 would be a whole different story.
