Brutal indeed. Painful to see. I'm not sure of this should be in the category of best knockout or worst knockout. A 38 year old and well past it Norton, defenceless at the end, takes a few shots too many from a heavy banger before the ref finally jumps in.
I had a personal beef with this fight.No I wasn't born yet but when I watched all the hype and all of Cooney's earlier fight's Ken Norton was commentating and every single fight Cooney was in Norton bashed him and said some nasty racial s**t. Ala Holmes in there fight. Nobody put a gun to Norton's to get in the ring that night hell he thought nothing of Cooney but he was a great white hope who had been carried as later HBO would try to make clear with the legendary night's episode. All I can say is he disposed of Norton, Jimmy Young who beat Foreman, Ron Lyle, John Dino Dennis who was a very good fighter people forget about.
