Elway didnt have Davis all 15 years and one of the things that opens up your passing game is having a great runner.
Yes but its pretty hard to throw for 4600 yards or whatever when you're running the ball enough to get 2000 yards with one back. It makes the passing game more efficient but its just simple logic that you're not going to be passing enough to reach that kind of level.

He can be compared to a young Elway I guess, still a stretch I think but who cares, but he still has a ways to go and he needs to toughen up.
