TARVER-HOPKINS PRESS CONFERENCE NOTES

Pedro Fernandez

SIZE MATTERS

Las Vegas, NV-On June 10th, two of the most skilled and also boring fighters of current times will square off for the first time on a PPV that will generate very minimal numbers. Both guys are little long in the tooth but Antonio Tarver seems the fresher of the two. Both pugilists are quite the physical specimens and are over six feet tall! Future hall of famer, Bernard Hopkins, has a thin, muscular build with zero body fat even at 41 years old. However, Hopkins’ legs are spindly and do not seem as defined as they used to. Antonio Tarver has the sleek build with a broad chest, big hands, large pelvic area, and long muscular legs that spell explosive lower and upper body power!

MENTAL EDGE TO THE OLD MAN

As we know, both men share a checkered past as they both ventured on the opposite side of the law. Although Antonio Tarver was never busted for his crack possession and male prostitution, Bernard Hopkins was caught for strong-armed robbery and served almost a decade in one of the most vicious penal institutions in the country. During his time in the joint, Hopkins was branded with the nicknames “Executioner” and “Soapy”.

FAMOUS D-BLOCK

Many reporters were shocked when Hopkins quoted yesterday in reference to Antonio Tarver, “I used to see guys just like him on D-Block. He would have been taking it in the ass everyday.” Apparently Hopkins finds the thought of grown men being sexually violated in their anuses to be humorous or entertaining. Tarver responded by getting in Hopkins’ face and declaring that he would have been able to handle Hopkins in the ring, the street, or even D-Block. The fact that many sources from the prison state that Hopkins got his nicknames “Executioner” and “Soapy”, because of his aggressive sexual activities on D-Block, is disturbing.

THE PICK

On one side you have a guy in Antonio Tarver that was literally a crackhead and even sold his body for crack at one point and his damn near forty himself. If those types of activities don’t take years off of a career, nothing will. On the other hand, we have an ancient Bernard Hopkins that was life and death against Jermain Taylor of all people. I see a snoozefest in the making folks.
