I think Cotto has a much better chance of beating Pac than ODH or Hatton did. However, it seems like many people are easily swayed by a fighters most recent performance (somewhat justifiably). ODH looked good against Forbes in some peoples eyes (not mine) and his previous fight had been a close-ish decision loss to the best P4P fighter in the sport. Hatton, while looking a little subpar versus Lazcano, had been impressive in his victory over Malignaggi. Cotto, disregarding the Jennings fight (which meant less than ODH - Forbes), has been knocked out and scraped out a decision many felt he did not deserve in two of his last three fights.
I understand that but even in losing to Margarito and getting by Clottey (which he certainly did imo) he has looked much more capable then Hatton ever did. Yeah Hatton jabbed more against Malignaggi but other then that Cotto is clearly the more multi talented fighter. In fact, he could have a more diverse bag of tricks then Pacquiao. I wouldn't be surprised to see him try to box and counter off the backfoot.
