"Teacher I hate Japan monkey people". I'm thinking "shit if Europe can get over modern Germany for the Nazis why are Korean schools still perpetuating the evil Japan crap?"

"Korea has four seasons". I'm thinking....yep, and so do most countries in the world. Actually Korea only has two noticeable seasons...summer and winter...but they like to think they are distinct and have four seasons.

"Park Ji Sung is Manchester United number one". I'm thinking oh, fuck off now and leave me alone.

"Teacher fan death real. Why you no believe Korea doctor". I'm thinking. Stop, please stop! I can't take this anymore.

There's probably loads more, but I can't think right now.
Ok, I'm sure you've had enough of my fan-death questions, but do they believe that it can only kill you while you sleep?
From what I can gather it is only when sleeping. There was less of it in the newspapers this year. I only heard of about 3 reported cases over the summer.

It's one of the charms of Korea, having young people come up to you and earnestly preach the dangers of the killer fan. It's hilarious, it really is. And no matter how you try to explain that there is no logic to what they are saying they still don't believe you because you are the foreigner and what their parents are saying must be true. It's nuts, I tell you!

One of the kids was telling me about how his teacher dislikes Japan a few weeks ago. This teacher was actually explaining how he would like a great tsunami to wash over Japan and take it beneath the oceans never to be seen again. The student had to tell me this through diagrams and broken English, but got his point across very well. But that teacher was pretty dumb telling his young learners that. It's just not right. There is a serious little man complex running through this country.
