If they knew they'd be executed, they likely would have killed her to get rid of the evidence. Longer sentences for rapists are needed though, it's an absolute joke what an easy time of it they get. Let's face it the execution thing hasn't exactly worked a treat in bringing down US crime levels has it??

I had to work a lot about the death sentence in ethics and actually, it fosters crimes more than it stop it according to the studies over the thing because peoples think then "I have nothing to lose" as they know that their fate is sealed so they commit even more crimes because in the end, it won't change much. MOre severe measures should be enforced for sure but death sentence sure ain't the solution.
