The boys from Skynyrd are from Jacksonville, Fla...they only sang Sweet Home Alabama because of Neil Young's whiney a** song "Southern Man"...hence "I heard Mr. Young sing about her, a Southern Man don't need him aaround anyhow"
Neil Young is great but another main reason that Skynard wrote that line was because Young wouldn't let Skynard open up for them in concert. Why should he let himself get blown away by Skynard like the Who was blown away by them earlier that era.
