Why the heavyweight boxing scene is on life support?

Heavies have always been short on skill; a 'great' heavy typically exhibits moves that are nothing special among the lighter weights. I think this becomes more pronounced as heavyweights get bigger.

But not during the Golden Age of the '70's!
