I have to agree..I saw that fight live on TV it was not long after Rocky 5 came out...I remember the first few rounds Morrision was perfect I thought it was going to be an easy night then...I thought Ray was going to kill him...Ref should have been in 4 punches sooner

Yeah from a technical standpoint Morrison looked great in Mercer fight, before he got canvassed. ! , I think what happen was Mercer had the beard to withstand the early onslaught, and Tommy simply ran out of gas , and paid the price. I remember in particular a hook to body - uppercut combo that Morrison through at Mercer,( Remnant of an early Mike Tyson) I thought Mercer’s head was going to fly off, a lesser opponent would have been done at that point , Mercer was iron clad . At that time Mercer was big on neck training, putting large amounts of weights in the neck harness and lifting his neck back and forth. He would do this religiously , ( don‘t try this by the way , unless you have a trainer supervising you , or you will be in for neck surgery with a herniated disk ).
