exactly, IMO Calzaghe never struck me as the type of fighter who was fighting for greatness
He beat a relatively prime Hopkins better than anyone else has done, beat up the American critics darling Lacy quite easily, beat a prime undefeated Euro titlist in Kessler handily and also in his youth boxed the pants off the ancient (31 ancient...hahaha) Eubank. His style was extraordinary and he beat a number of other very decent opponents. In his own way he was great, nobody was ever able to work him out.
He had a great career and is one of boxings best ever fighters, at least IMO.
Good post Miles.
These Calzaghe haters will never get over it.
The Hopkins win is rubbished even though Hopkins can't stop franking the form. Froch gets more credit for LOSING to Kessler than Calzaghe does for beating him. Even Hopkins, one of the biggest whingers in history, recently admitted Calzaghe had unique boxing ability. A masterful style.
We all know the real truth - if Calzaghe was American he would have replaced SRR as P4P all-time. Fact.
