But you don't see a distinction between an ebb and flow where guy one can change the tide merely by throwing a jab whereas in a second fight a guy needs to throw a jab, cross and hook, then step and throw another cross?

Isn't the second example being conducted at a far higher level of skill? Doesn't the second example show a far higher level of adaptability? Isn't countering a long combination like that to reassert control dramatically more difficult and impressive than merely being able to counter a jab to do so?
