Why do we even have them? If the Judges are hung, The fight should be classified as a "Draw" and there should be an automatic rematch rather than a "W".

I don't agree with the change it to a draw idea either. Take the case in point a fighter clearly wins every round judges scorecards read 120-108, 120-108, 113-115. Because of a single home baked judge, a fighter gets robbed of a "W"and has to waste his time fighting someone he already dominated. This is such a common event in boxing, that it would change at least one fight per card from a "W" to a ""D".

theres nothing wrong with split decisions

makes finding out a bit more entertaining when there is one

in fact, id prefer a split descision than a UD or a MD

least then its down to the last judge

its like extra suspense

Can't they come out with the decision in less than 3 minutes since it's just a matter of adding the scores? And boxers a few generations ago had been going for 15 rounds. There was even a time when they duke it out for more than 20 rounds.

It's not just a matter of waiting for a decision, boxers tend to remove their gloves, so they would have to re-wrap as well. in the old days of 100 plus rounds it was a much different game, it's not a matter of just lasting now. Plus there is the issue of swelling, which will be worse after the fighter cools down. Not to mention you have to get all the entourages, officials, cameramen, promoters, stools and everything out of the ring.

I mean there could be a rule that the boxers are not to remove their gloves immediately after the 12th round nor does anybody get into the ring until they have verified that the judges decision is not split. This I think can be done in less than 3 minutes if the judges already total their score every round and it will just need to be verified after the 12th.

In the 1980s, if an ESPN title fight was a draw at the end of 12 rounds, they fought a 13th. One that I remember involved Doug DeWitt, but I can't recall his opponent.
Billy Graham, who is (or should be) in the HoF, with a record of 126-15, lost either 8 or 10 split decisions.
