definitely a disappointing match up for nonito. but maybe he needs an easier opponent this time out after being out of the ring for quite awhile. i do hope they can still find a replacement though, someone more his size.

Don't get me wrong, I think Donaire is an outstanding fighter! But I think this fight will be tougher than many of you are assuming. Sure Narvaez' resume is questionable but the guy can fight!

the problem is donaire has been getting the reputation of fighting opponents not his size. narvaez though a tough undefeated dude is another fighter coming up in weight and the height difference is considerable. if he blows him away he wouldn't get much props from it. it's time he should fight someone his own size to show how really good he is. anyway, this is supposed to be his last fight at bantam. next year i expect better match ups for him.

If Donaire can make the weight, I don't blame him for cleaning out 118, and Narvaez from all accounts is good, but Narvaez is coming up in weight, I just don't see this as being competitive. Furthermore, I don't think this fight is as good as the Agbecko/Mares winner or moving up to fight Arce or the Nish/Marquez winner. I don't see the strategy here either. It's not like he'll get a lot out of fighting Narvaez. It seems like a waste.

    Galaxy,
How you been man? Miss the chats we used to have.
Yourself and Eagle always a good chat about the lower weight classes...

Anywhoo... I agree, despite the size advantage if Narvaez has a good/decent chin and can hold on. I think he's elusive enough to give Nonito a good challenge.

We can agree to disagree. Nonito will blow him out in under 5 rounds unless Narvaez runs.

ot, another fight i'd like to see is montiel vs. darchinyan at 122lbs. then maybe nonito might consider having a rematch with the winner.

Narvaez has never been down! He has great technique & although his opponents have not been elite he's fought tough guys like Asloum, Lazarte, Tamara, Whitfield & Seda. The guy has a world of experience!

no doubt narvaez is good. nonito is just in another level. more skillful and much bigger. there's no point to this fight except to show how much better donaire is than the smaller guys.

That's exactly how I feel. I don't mean to discredit Narvaez. It's just Donaire is bigger and better.

Screw 122. I think Nonito already fought in that weight class once in his early career. I wanna see him test the waters @ 126. I'd like to see him against B-level fighter like Jorge Solis first before facing the top dogs in that division.

I hear you. He has a chance to be a 5 division champion or something though. I'd favor him over the best at 118 easily. But, how about Rigadeaux at 122? Now that's a scrap I'd like to see. How about Mares, Arce and then Rigodeaux?

all those foos mentioned would get beat down by Nonito. He's the best Filipino to ever lace em up.. this dude is unreal.. he's on that Marquez level except more athletically gifted.. Too bad he wasn't as big as Floyd and PAcquiao... IF he was a little bigger, he'd made Pacquiao look like an amatuer and a fight with FLoyd would be 50-50....

    HE's that great..

You may be right about that. The difference between Donaire and Pacquiao is that Pac took formidable challenges on his way to stardom. Nonito somehow allowed himself to stagnate. The less he fights, the less experience he gets.

We would not have known Manny's full potential if he took less challenging fights after the loss to Morales. Nonito, on the other hand, could have been at a higher level now if he followed up his win against Darchinyan with equally or more risky fights.
