[QUOTE=GRBOXINGFAN;446804]James Toney was born in Grand Rapids, raised in Ann Arbor, but fought out of Detroit, kind of. Grand Rapids also boasts the Mayweathers, several other pros and a few olympians as well as Buster Mathis Sr. who fought Ali and Jr. who fought Tyson.Originally Posted by boozeboxer

My top Boxing towns:
New York
Detroit
Philadelphia
Too many fighters to list from these cities, but interestingly, both New York and Detroit can lay some claim to the best in Sugar Ray Robinson.
But San Juan and Mexico City are the meccas for Latino fans.
the rican fighters are not from san juan....mexico city is a solid pick. how about general santos city, philippines. 2 of the 3 top pound for pound in my book. Nonito Donaire and Pacquiao..impressive. Great call on grand rapids..small as hell and it has given us those great boxers!finally someone who understands a "boxing town" Per capita, grand rapids, youngstown, philadelphia, detroit. i'm from philly and we love boxing, we are spoon fed the movie Rocky at a young age.
