Nation's biggest brothel closer.



Australia's biggest brothel is tipped to get local Sydney council approval tonight despite 80 objections to the plan.

If the City of Sydney approves the plan, the $12m brothel will have 40 beds and 21 waiting rooms - and the owners will have to spend $400,000 improving the quality of the neighbourhood.

The plan is to double the size of the existing Stiletto brothel in Camperdown.

Council planning director Graham Jahn told Fairfax newspapers that the council had received 80 submissions against the plan.

The complaints included claims that the Parramatta Rd site was inappropriate because it was next to high-density residential, educational and medical establishments, and would be a safety risk to women, students and children.

Council rejected all these complaints, and also disputed claims that the brothel would cause excess noise and disturb neighbours. The current premises was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and there had been "no record of complaint relating to the existing operations of the premise".

The council is seeking a payment from the owner to improve footpaths, kerbs and construction of a pedestrian refuge within 800 metres of the brothel.
