He's struggled desperately in his last fights against appalling opposition. At least Povetkin isn't a puncher and will probably beat him up gently.

Awful fight for him to take though, basically beating up a pensioner.
I didn't think eh struggled that much with Brian Nielson or Frans Botha. Did he ?

I honestly think Holyfield will put up a pretty good fight against Povetkin. Povetkin really isn't that good.

He'll almost certainly still beat a near 50 Holyfield, but maybe not. Holyfield has a small chance I think.

I think knocking out Botha and Neilson were two decent wins for Evander. He showed punch power, combinations and was still bouncing on his toes at the end. The Sherman Williams fight as over before it started due to to Shermans headbutts but it did show that Evander can still take flush shots. Before that Evander outboxed the heavyweight champion and was robbed of the decision so he has certainly kept himself in the picture.

Povetkin cant run like Ibragimov and Donald did. He will come to fight which is what Evander wants. If he cant KO an invincible looking Tyson then it wont be as big of a shock to see him beat some fat Russian IMO.

haha you mean the 46 year old Brian Nielson who hadn't fought in almost 10 years and finally succumbed after a competitive 10 round battle and the 42 year old Botha, coming off a draw against the heralded Pedro Carrion, who Evander managed to come from behind to stop in the 8th?

    Great wins

Sherman Williams was rocking Holyfield, he looked like he was going to get stopped that night. He was behind on all the judges scorecards. Luckily a minor cut from a headbutt meant he was able to pull out at the end of the third round and get a no contest, much like Nate Campbell did when he was getting beat up by Tim Bradley.

I had never heard of Sherman Williams.

None of these fights bode well for Evander when facing arguably the third best fighter in the heavyweight division. Holyfield is doomed, the ridiculous dream will end here with a battered and broken Holyfield saved from himself by the referee.

Bilbo....ever the cock eyed optimist !

Sherman Williams is a big fat tough trial horse that has been around for a long time in the heavyweight division. That was a bad showing for Holyfield to say the least, but I expect him to be in better condition if/when he fights Povetkin.

Did you by chance watch Povetkin's last fight ?

    Not very impressive.
