Protect yourself at all times. Hugs are for after the fight only. I don't like when guys foul then try and touch gloves or whatever. Don't smile at me after you just headbutted me. Haha.

I don't like it either, but to pretend to hug/touch gloves and then throw punches is inexcusable.

Literally 100 fights ago it was a general concesus amongst anyone who knew sh!t about boxing that Joe Cortez should never referee another fight again....

And to quote a new thread " How many fights does Cortez have to clearly mess up on for him to get fired?"

    Indeed how f'n many? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Is that steve bunce ripping Cortez Ortiz lost a point, dumb dumb move...but Floyd acted furthest from "elite" like that. Cheap, low shots best left for club cards in some smoke filled bar room.

    He's a punk. Fact

One thing that really pisses me off is that the replay of the "KO" is going to be showed over and over by the mainstream media and this ridiculous sport is going to get yet another black eye.

Speechless really.. Its legal but not gentlemanly. Floyd never bought into the gesture of Ortiz after the intentional headbutt and Ortiz kept punching Floyd 2x after the Ref called break after the WWE flying headbutt. The Ref calls time on and Floyd gets him. Im mad because it ended that way not because Floyd did it. He never wanted to kume by ya him he was pissed from the beginning. And all of us would have wanted to retaliate after a blatant foul. If Ortiz got up and continued fine we would have called them even.. But it wasn't Floyds best moment for sure not a classy move .Shame on Ortiz too!!

thanks CFH for the PM. i was able to catch the last round.
blahh.. that fight was a huge blow to Boxing.
from the weigh ins when mayweather wrapped his hand around ortiz throat. then the blatant headbutt from ortiz. then the very very disgraceful punch from mayweather. up to the ridiculous unprofessionalism of larry merchant and mayweather. very embarassing.

Larry Merchant ALWAYS gives Mayweather shit. I kinda hate him for that. Antagonising, patronising old cunt. Then goes over to Ortiz and ASKS him if it was an intentional butt. SERIOUSLY?!

But that's HBO, it's obvious they resent having to pay Floyd to fight and be a prick on TV. They even punked him during the Mosley fight

Anyway, Mayweather was entitled to do whatever the hell he wanted after being nutted like that. If Cortez wanted to take a point away, say something whatever then cool. But CORTEZ was MISSING!

Mayweather throws combos at something pathetic like 60bpm... After that left hook landed, there was a considerable period where Floyd was ALLOWED to throw another punch.

    DEFEND YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES

But seriously, Merchant should know better. Now the sport has just suffered a knock with the wrong man getting the flack.

Oh that is sneaky. I didn't know he faked a hug back then koed him. Bet that looked funny though.

Ortiz is the main person to blame though.... Thinking that Floyd's foul attitude outside the ring just gets put aside when he climbs through the ropes...

"yeah we aren't complaining about the fouls against us,,, I'll just knock him out while his hands are down apologizing and i'll fake him out like i'm accepting it then i'll do my own cheap shot and he'll be down..."

I'm half joking.. Ortiz should of been more aware... But 9 out of 10 fighters wouldn't KO someone like that... But who ever argued Floyd was on the classier side of those 9 out of 10?

When you are the highest paid fighter in the sport and the number 1 P4P pretty much,,, represent the god damn sport with some class...

I liked Floyd's glance at Cortez right before he threw the left. That frankensteiner of a headbutt attempt ticked him off, and he saw the perfect spot. He was perfectly within the rules to do so - but still not very classy.

Anybody else notice that bull shit with the towel as if Floyd got damaged from the head butt? Am I wrong? Did it connect? I didn't see that head butt land.
