It was fight time, not hug time. C'mon, Ortiz. Head butts and huggy-hugs? Box the guy already.
As legitimate as it was, Floyd stole from his own legacy. He may feel beligerantly justified this morning about his actions, but that is not the same as feeling satisfied with his performance and with the depth and quality of this particular W in his record. He will look back with some regrets. Too bad to achieve something like this so late in his career, especially when so unnecessary.
Point: Mayweather loses too, not just the boxing public.
Ortiz sounds clueless in the afterfight interview. No display of fighting sense or of business sense. And doesn't he realize that in a second fight, Mayweather won't need to wait four rounds to figure him out? Mayweather will come prepared and loaded for bear and will get a clear TKO if not KO before round 6. No point to rematch except $$.
Was embarrassing to watch Ortiz who couldn't even explain his own actions clearly.
Hope that Manny and Floyd can meet, and that it is a great fight which will remove the lingering aftertaste of disgust from this debacle.
