Actually Ortiz did explain himslef pretty well, he said he thought Floyd was going back but came foward a little as ortiz was trying to jump foward. The only person who didnt explain themselvs was Floyd. Fighters are taught to attack and finish, kill kill, if this was the case with Floyd why didnt he just say that? cause its not he sucker punched thats all there is to it. At least Floyd dont lie about it lol. I like in a post fight interview Floyd said they broke apart and it was open season lol. I think the first punch was reaction and instinct and the second he said f it im nailin him again.

That really appears to be an intentional headbutt by Ortiz done out of frustration. When the referee signalled the fight to continue, Ortiz went forward to again apologize and hug Floyd. Floyd showed every indication that he is about to accept the apology and hug. If you look at the slo-mo, Floyd glanced at the referee briefly before he threw that sucker punch. That is legal but not classy.

Watch the video again. Victor was coming in with his hands up like he wanted to touch gloves, and Floyd was reciprocating that. They touched gloves, then Floyd put his hands up, ready to fight. Victor was the one who went in for the hug, if you watch closely Floyd is thrown off by this (as he has now gone into "fight mode") and tries to push him off. Victor lets go and Floyd blasts him.

Boxing is the most honest conversation two men can have - Ernest Hemingway
Ortiz's act was one of a cheating coward who was being outclassed & beaten to the punch time and time again by a far superior fighter. He could see he was heading for defeat and had to resort to that gutless act. Using the head is never a thing anyone wants to see in boxing, but what he did was viscous and blatant and one of the worse thing I have seen in boxing since Tyson bit Holyfield's ear off. It would be easier to list the fights I have seen where somebody hasn't used their head in than the ones that have; but at least the majority of the time they have used it in a minor way. Had Ortiz landed that cleanly he could have bust Floyd nose, eye socket or something that could have come back to haunt him in a future fight. I remember a football player serving around 6 months in jail for head butting another player during a game some years ago; just because boxing is a 'violent' sport doesn't mean the use of the head should be disregarded when done so - it is still a disgusting act. (You're a jock are you not? you will remember who I am talking about I bet)
Mayweathers action were clearly ones from someone who had been antagonised and infuriated at the loathe worthy conjecture Ortiz took to try and turn the tides in his favour. Lets be honest, boxing ring or not; if someone tries to stick the head on you, a hug and a kiss isn't going to get you back onto the Christmas card list. I honestly can't see how you can blame Mayweather let alone say what he did was worse!
To me there was nothing more honest than Floyd's response to Ortiz's exploit.
The punches at best were a grey area. The fight was called to continue and regardless of whether they were in a neutral corner or not, Ortiz chose not to defend himself and fight when Cortez give the all clear. Floyd may have looked to receive the apology and questionably choose when to recommence fighting, but everything he did was with the rules.
I fail to how Cortez is at fault either? He could have sent Floyd to the locker room until the point was given, Ortiz wanted to keep talking when the fight was called.
I won't deny it is a shame how it all culminated, but Mayweather is an opportunistic athlete trying to dispel any credence that he has a peer.
Way I see it was the cheating shit got what he deserved, some fans feel the were denied the chance of a great fight - so far it seems they all just hate Mayweather anyway.
Ultimately, just don;t fuck with the pretty boy![]()

I dont understand how people are talking shit about PBF.
What Victor did was a bitch move. Plain and simple.
Just think for a minute if PBF would have headbutted...
Go ahead I'll give you a minute to think about it.
People would have gone fucken crazy.
What PBF did was give Ortiz a dose of his own medicine however within the rules.
"Protect yourself at all times"
I doesn't say protect yourself every now and then or protect yourself only when engaging.
For a real "sucker punch" that occured while the fight was still in time out.
Silverio Ortiz vs Jorge Paez Sr. now that was a blantan foul since the ref. had not signaled time in.
