I think Cotto is more likely to get knocked out by Margarito (again) than he is by Martinez just based on their styles.

Really can't see cotto moving up, he has opportunities where he is anyway. He has fought a lot of top guys had a very good career. I reckon he has made fights tough for himself at times so has a lot of mileage on the clock but he always gives his all. Loads of heart tough as nails and i reckon although he is very popular now as it is he wont get the respect he truly deserves until he calls it a day and people can look back and say 'where are the cottos nowadays'

So Cotto is basically saying he isnt interested in being the best he only wants to make money?! He sounds like Pac and Floyd. The business man mindset has overtaken the sportsman in him.

Part of me wants to see Marg finish what he started but then again I wouldnt mind seeing Cotto get revenge after the Mexican cheated in the 1st fight. Either way neither of these guys are going to go on and win any big fights.

They're all in it for the money. Name one figher who isn't.

Cotto has consistently fought elite competition, his resume is outstanding.

If anyone deserves to be paid, it is Martinez. Martinez is at 160 but he would love to go back down to 154 (which he can still make if he is to be believed; which I do). Guys at 154 don't want to fight him.

The posters arguing Cotto has fought the best are completely right. Why does Cotto get crap for not taking any fight? He has fought more top 10 guys in their respective divisions than almost anyone in the sport.

This is a spot on post.

Martinez deserves a big fight. Cotto doesn't need to fight Martinez. That said, a win over Martinez would thrust Cotto into the HOF if he wasn't already going there. Martinez tweeted that he hoped Margarito wins because that fight is possible to make.

Indeed. If you fight Manny Pacquiao then your not afraid of fighting any one.
I would like to see Martinez clean up the devision by fighting Felix Sterm and then leave the reasonably weak middleweight devision and move either up or down depending on who he wants to fight.
Go up a devision and fight Ward or Bute.
Go down a devision and fight Cotto, Angulo or Alvarez.
He could go down a devision and Mayweather of Pac go up a devision and meet half way if he really wants a challange.
Dont know if pac can go up any more devisions though. You can only put on so much weight before you start slowing down.

There is NOOOOOO way Bob Arum would EVER feed Cotto to Martinez.

That's true although I haven't been overly impressed with his selection of opponents as a junior middleweight considering how deep of a division it is.

Who says Cotto doesnt fight top guys? Are you saying you dont wanna see Cotto fight Martinez?
