Reminds me of the scene from the movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase. He had a retriever type dog that he bought let it loose outside and it ran away, about a half hour goes by in the movie illustrating months going by and he hears the dog barking and running out of the woods, so he thinks the dog is coming back, well it just kept running
