Rate their resumes, i.e who beat the best opponents, taking into consideration not just the name of the person they beat, but also the stage at which they beat them, i.e Holmes does not get credit for beating Ali.

I think it's harsh what they say about the heavyweights now, yeah it isn't as good to watch but these guys are stronger, hit harder and have better technique than the guys in the other era's. Would Ali,Frazier, Marciano, etc beaten the Klitschko's, honestly I would rather watch the others fight but I think they would have struggled with the size. reach difference. Here is my order -

    Muhammad Ali
    Lennox Lewis
    Wladimir Klitchko
    Joe Frazier
    George Foreman

    Vital Klitchko
    Mike Tyson
    Larry Holmes
    Sonny Liston
    Jack Dempsey
    Jack Johnson
    Rocky Marciano
    J Tandy

Haha you watched Foreman in his prime then, they throw more straight shots, they got better defence, not just hit and get hit back

What are the criteria we are basing our calculations on? H2H?

Ali by a mile no 1, Marciano fought better fighters than Liston .

George Foreman is a brawler though, what about guys like Holmes, Ali, Holyfield, Tyson.

Ali hands down has the best resume. He beat Liston x2, Patterson x2 (well, OK, once was legit), Cooper, Williams, Folley, Norton x2 (highly-disputed), Frazier x2, Foreman, Lyle, Shavers, Quarry x2, etc. How can you trounce that?

Holyfield beat Qawi, Douglas, Tyson x2, Bowe, Moorer, Ruiz, Cooper, not too shabby.

Holmes beat Shavers x2, Cooney, Bonecrusher, Truth, Weaver, Witherspoon (?), Mercer, and made 20 title defenses successfully. How can you beat that?
