Joe Walcott's performance in Ali-Liston II represents the low point as near as I can figure.

Alfredo Garcia Perez is definitively the worst ref I have ever seen … and let see who can beat me on that:

Walcott was right! He didn't start the count because Ali refused to go to a neutral corner, therefore he doesn't have to count!

Nat Fleischer told Walcott that Liston had been down more than 10 and he stopped the fight. He was a victim of inexperience rather than bad refereeing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Laurence Cole yet. The guy's truly horrible as a ref.

I agree and with the ring death and him still to scared to stop a fight for the sake of the fighter above the crowd; Makes him the worse and the NY and NJ commission allowing it to continue after those accidents when better proven refs were available to them in the area who were putting their hands up for work, proves them to be a closed shop with self interests above that of the fighters.

Yeah, his conduct in the Cotto/Yuri Foreman fight (that was him, right?) was atrocious.

Best ref? Kenny Bayless. Extra credit for the bugged out eyes when he does his ten-count.
