He's not saying anything, like it is! What he's doing is trying to bait Cotto and/or Margarito, who ever wins. He says other (smaller) boxers don't want to fight him because the don't want the risk. What a hypocrite! The truth is he himself is looking for the least amount of risk for the biggest payday.
    Yeah your right.

He was scared to death to come up and fight Kelly Pavlik.

And he wouldn't give Paul "The most ducked fighter in boxing" Williams a rematch.

    Oh wait a minute...

"I'm not a natural middleweight like Kelly Pavlik, who is a big fighter. If I had to go up a little bit to a catchweight in order to get a fight with guys like Andre Ward or Carl Froch, I wouldn't have any problems. But going up directly to 168 would be suicidal for me. I walk around at less than 168 when I'm not even training, usually at about 165. I'm definitely not ready for that division."

    Not my words.....
    What he said is true.

Kelly Pavlik is a lot bigger guy naturally than Martinez.

Martinez is a blown up Jr. Middle.

He will fight 168 lbers at a catch weight.

And he will fight Pacquaio at a catch weight.
That is exactly why he's so full of shit. Mayweather, Cotto & Pacquiao are all two and three "natural weight class" smaller than him. The reason why he is trying to make a fight with them is because that is where the money is and where there is less risk for the reward. He's at a weight class that has no money, it's assumed easier for him to win going down than it is up. I think he'd beat Pavik but if his reason he's not ready to fight him is because of his weight then he'll never be ready. I like Martinez, I just don't like the BS that other boxers are afraid of him when he himself has the same argument about going up.
As of now, Mayweather and Pacquiao are fighting two weight classes below him, but Cotto is fighting only at one weight class below him. Not to mention that Mayweather and Pacquiao have fought at 154 which is where Martinez fought for the large majority of his career. Like I said in another thread, if Martinez can make weight safetly at 154, which if he went into the fight last Saturday weighing 165, he probably be can, then I don't see why he shouldn't be challenging the best at 154. Cotto right now is allegedly the best at 154 at least according to Ring Magazine. Also, understand that it's not like he is challenging Victor Ortiz or Andre Berto, he is challenging the p4p #1 and #2 fighters in the world. Most people favor Pacquiao and Mayweather over Martinez. How can he be bullying fighters that people predict to beat him? Frankly, if Floyd or Manny wanted to outdo the other, beating Martinez would definitely do the trick. There is no way the other could top a win over Martinez and it would cement their legacy in the history books.

this is why i don't like p4p rankings, they say that pacquiao and mayweather are the best but actually they are just the best in a limited weight range and actually they could be punished if they go up. And same for sergio. Besides boxers punches look so ugly and soft in the lowest divisions that they seem clowns of the real thing, the heavyweight division. Just my opinion. I can't stand those p4p lists with so good boxers like v. klitschko in 13th just because the others are bad while other weaklings are rated high and duck and fight 37 olders and more instead... and the worst thing ever was lennox lewis receiving rematch requests at 38 after that heroical thing of beating the next generation boxer at that age just because they thought that a prime is defined by kos and etc in the latest fights instead of by age. And maybe it is but not for me.
