I think in the case of someone like Hatton, at heart he was a romantic and he wanted it for himself and all the glory. In the case of someone like Mayweather, no. It is all calculated and cynical.
Hatton fought anyone who was ranked near or above and fell short, Mayweather doesn't come close to that level of heart.

If there is any fan involvement then we are dealing with boxers here who does it as a sport? Not those who only do it for training and sparring to keep fit. I didn't completely close out the possibility that some might do it as a hobby hence the statement "unless they're a sadist/masochist". And the statement I made above is an opinion, not a fact, hence the word "I don't believe ....".
Now, do you know of any boxer who does it for a hobby?

It was until you said no-one boxes as a hobby, I started the thread Im happy that Professional boxers do it for the oney and not the fans, but Ive seen some people saying Haye should have 1 more fight for the fans similar to Hatton. It made me think do any boxers fights for fans (hence the thread)
So yes we are talking about pro's...jeez talk about difficult.
