That the refereeing decision was final and cannot be overruled by the commission.

    Total bullshit if true.

Chad should be DQ'd if anything.

Bollocks. He pushed an octopus away, I see nothing particularly scandalous in Dawson's behaviour.

Let's wait and see if the injury is legit, it seems legit to me. This is almost exactly like the Antwun Echols fight where he dislocated his shoulder.

Uncalled for move by Dawson. No respect from me.

Guess it's karma because some ass chose to stay home to watch the fight instead of visit his college friend. We all pay.

    Thanks, dude.

It can't be a tko. A boxing blow wasn't thrown. By definition of the rules you can't rule something when it isint even a possible outcome

Hopkins is a hypocrite talking about dirty boxing. Why does he constantly hug his opponents? That's okay and to push you off isn't?

To hell with Hopkins and his whingeing. And I agree with Dawson, a rematch isn't needed. Hopkins was losing anyway and knowing his recent past would attempt to find ways out and dirty up a fight.

I wouldn't say anyone was winning, both men landed one clean punch and that was about it.

Miles we all know that had Hopkins thrown Dawson and been awarded a TKO you would be frothing at the mouth and creating at least half a dozen threads about how it was the worst decision in boxing history.

You are so myopic it's unreal.

It as clearly a scissor clip crap move. Dawson cuffs his leg and shrugs him off huge, clear as fooking day. Ref was mute on both counts

So only one of us got it right in the poll at the top of this thread.

    That's kinda funny.

I know Hopkins seems to have a hstory of overplaying the injury factor, but I tend to agree with his comments to Kellerman: that this is what it is. Dawson dipped low, Hopkins swung over him and maybe overdid that too as he put his weight on Dawson. Another typical tactic like walking the other fighter backwards by leaning - tire him out. And a head game to frustrate him, too. It's Hopkins. And Dawson didn't like it.

Who would? But Dawson overdid the reaction. What he did was illegal.

And the ref seemed to go into neutral and lose all sense of purpose and direction at this point as others have mentioned. No count for BHop, no warning to Dawson, no nothing. I was sure it would be either a no contest (boo hiss) or a DQ (yes!).

I hope that a medical exam proves a real injury, and that the decision is overturned. Dawson doesn't deserve to become a champion this way.

Sad. This following so closely on the heels of Mayweather-Ortiz is disheartening. (Not to compare the two in any way except that each is an abnormal, unexpected and controversial ending to a fairly major fight).

Fight looked even to me and I was hoping to see Hopkins turn it up else it might have gone the way of the Jermaine Taylor fights was my fear. Dawson looked like he could have been a real threat by being more active and bringing the fight. Shouldn'a had to tackle Hopkins to win.

No, Dawson has no history of that and would not have done it, so there is no point even considering the alternative. Hopkins has a history of this and I don't have sympathy just because he is old.
