Van from a Texan's perspective how can you state that Hockey is more popular than soccer now? FC Dallas has one of the worst attendances in MLS and still pulls in 3k more per game than the Stars. TV ratings for MLS have remained flat while NHL has declined. How popular is the NBA right now?................LOCKOUT

I guess I just know more people that care about hockey than MLS.
It's definitely an understandable viewpoint. Hockey has had a place in the American sports world for much longer and at a much higher level by the standards of the world, the NHL is the premier hockey league worldwide. MLS on the other hand is definitely in the top 100 soccer leagues
The thing with soccer right now is it's going through a growth phase where it is actually on stable financial footing and now trying to become a serious league.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
