I don't think any side is wrong here. Like what a poster said, BOXING SCORING IS NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE. In a very close fight, people will be split on who to give the round to. They may try to distribute those rounds evenly on the two protagonist or they might give all of them to the boxer with the fighting style they prefer hence the huge discrepancy in some of the scorecards.

Until they come up with a better and more accurate way of scoring fights, then there will just be more of these arguments in the coming fights.
It probably comes down to who you're more of a fan of too. I'm not saying it's always the case, but Pac fans will be more likely to see the fight going more Manny's way, and JMM's fans will see it going his way.

I appreciate what ya saying about being a fan of one than another. The irony is Im more a Pac fan than JMM, I wanted, and predicted Pac to dominate the fight. I was left utterly dispondant by his performance. I was actually looking at Pac throughout the fight wanting him to do more, but in my eye's he didnt.

I believe all Pacquiao fans are disappointed with how the fight went.

He did not dominate the fight as expected but he wasn't dominated in the fight either as some suggested.

Lousy performance by the P4P boxer + excellent performance by a huge underdog = perception that the underdog won in an almost even fight. In such close fight, nonpartisan fans would likely side with the underdog for the effort that was showed and for being able to make the fight competitive. This is just a theory and I am not presenting it here as fact.

It's a good theory and one I wouldnt argue against.

I tend not to watch the fights again, as like to go by first impressions. Dont want to dilute my original perspective by other peoples opinions and swayed judgements.

Chances are If i did watch it again, I may see it differently, but as the with the judges at ringside, I give myself one shot at scoring the fight and generally stick to first impressions.

Well i never thought Manny Pacquiao would dominate the fight, and it was pretty ridiculous the way people were overrating Manny Pacquiao and underrating JMM. You make it sound like JMM was some journeyman who shocked everyone by giving a great champion fits.

JMM is a P4P fighter himself with a great resume, who had arguably beaten Manny Pacquiao 2 times before there 3rd fight. Was it that much of shock ?

And the reason people think JMM won was because he landed all the best punches in the fight. Which is pretty much what i look for in the fight, who's landing the clean effective punches.

And i see JMM snap Manny Pacquiao's head back numerous times, with right hands and uppercuts.

And for it's worth i think JMM is 3-0 vs Manny Pacquiao.
