It was an unfair fight. I would quit too if someone keep hitting me with cement blocks over and over again.
Fuck Margarito and all of his supporters.

I hate this "macho" mentality that some boxing fans have. I mean Jesus H. Christ folks, boxing is a sport, not a fight to the death. So Cotto was supposed to have continued taking a beating with pastered wraps and risk getting brain damage? How fucking smart would that be..

I don't see anything wrong with Cotto quitting.
It wasn't like he quit as soon as it got rough. It went alot of hard rounds with Margarito and couldn't take no more.
Cotto has shown in fights before and after the Margarito fight that even when it gets tough for him that he can fight through it (eg. Pacquiao, Torres, Clottey).
I thought his corner threw in the towel. Oh well, I absolutely agree with the "macho" mentality that really is phony. Margarito and some may say they are willing to die in the ring but that is probably a bunch of crock. Anybody can say that they will die for this or that because they don't have to prove it. Just like everybody has a plan to kick the other guys a$$. When things go the wrong way the tune quickly changes as well. Besides, Margarito isn't exactly an honest guy. How many lies has he already told concerning just the plaster wrapsSo I'm sure he'd be willing to die in the ring is coming straight from the heart of an absolutely honest guy. And lets get straight to the point. What does dying in the ring do for you? If you die you lost anyway. So where does it get you?

The Nevada commission is a very experience commission. They cleared Margarito's wraps. So with it being a fair fight, Cotton quitting was a cowards move. I don't consider Cotto to be a coward. But he went out like one that night.

I didn't see it as him quitting. At the time I just thought he had been beaten by some truly hurtfull shots, now looking back with the knowledge we have of Margarito cheating I have to say it looks more and more like he cheated against Cotto. I fully expect Cotto to get revenge this time around, and hopefully he will give Margarito a beating on the same level that Pacquiao did.

I never thought Miguel Cotto quit that fight.
Maybe the Puerto Rican caved in to the physical limitations that he had, but it was quite understandable, for if in fact the suspected loaded gloves, the glove of choice for Tony Margarito was illegal... then Miguel indeed was, a victim of an inhuman battering!
The repulsive thing, given that, if there actually was premeditation, was the manner by which the camp who administered the brutality was celebrating! Unconscionable!

Easy to say when you're not the one getting your nose broken early in the fight and getting busted up like that. Hey, just 'cause your a Margarito fanboy and a Cotto hater.... it's ok to man up once in a while, and go the other way. It would increase your credibility.

If I remember right, Miguel took a knee, and then the corner threw in the towel, but it really doesn't make any difference. You owe it to your fans and yourself to do the best you can, and put on a good show, but that doesn't include sacrificing your health and well being.
I never thought Cotto didn't do the right thing, even before it was known that Margarito might have used plastered wraps.
