Was it OK for Cotto to "quit" in Cotto vs Margarito I?

I hate this "macho" mentality that some boxing fans have. I mean Jesus H. Christ folks, boxing is a sport, not a fight to the death. So Cotto was supposed to have continued taking a beating with pastered wraps and risk getting brain damage? How fucking smart would that be..

I thought his corner threw in the towel. Oh well, I absolutely agree with the "macho" mentality that really is phony. Margarito and some may say they are willing to die in the ring but that is probably a bunch of crock. Anybody can say that they will die for this or that because they don't have to prove it. Just like everybody has a plan to kick the other guys a$$. When things go the wrong way the tune quickly changes as well. Besides, Margarito isn't exactly an honest guy. How many lies has he already told concerning just the plaster wraps So I'm sure he'd be willing to die in the ring is coming straight from the heart of an absolutely honest guy. And lets get straight to the point. What does dying in the ring do for you? If you die you lost anyway. So where does it get you?

If I remember right, Miguel took a knee, and then the corner threw in the towel, but it really doesn't make any difference. You owe it to your fans and yourself to do the best you can, and put on a good show, but that doesn't include sacrificing your health and well being.
