Yep the six month contract part discouraged me too. I realise you don't have to pay the full six months in advance, and for Sky viewers the money is taken on a monthly basis through paywizard (why it cannot be paid via a regular DD or on the Sky bill like other subscription channels, I don't know) but I must admit to not being overly keen on promising money for Jan/Feb where there are traditionally very few fights occuring.
I expect those months will feature a couple of domestic cards featuring Warren's usual suspects in low risk fights against limited opposition (DeGale vs TBA, Enzo vs TBA), Bunce ranting on for an hour every week and the same recorded fights repeated over and over. For me, that just isn't worth even a tenner. Who knows where fights like Alexander/Maidana and Berto/Ortiz II will end up. Sky could well be in for them, especially considering they both feature potential future opponents for Khan and Brook. I would certainly like to find out before I hand over my money, and not work on the assumption that BoxNation will pick them up. Sky could pluck all these Golden Boy or Top Rank cards for an insignificant loss (for them) and kill BoxNation if they wanted to. And it wouldn't take long either.
I understand BoxNation's eagerness to generate guaranteed capital and its requirement in order to go for these decent foreign cards. However, there are no guarantees and without the option of ordering the channel month-by-month with the prior knowledge of what will be shown, I won't be ordering at all. Although I may reassess in April/May time, should the channel still be in existence by then.
With a month-by-month option, BoxNation would have perhaps got £30 from me over the next six months. As it is, they will get nothing. Reading around, it seems many people share the same view.
