Cotto has done well for himself as a refined boxer considering he is more built like a fighter. Whilst he is no Felix Trinidad, Cotto has extended his career by developing his boxing skills further. I do not think he could beat Pacquia or Floyd he would give them a good fight at 154lb.
I hate hearing this - I know I will probably be crucified for saying this as he's a Puerto Rican legend and hero but I think Cotto is a much better "boxer" than Trinidad was and has perhaps an equally good resume.
Trinidad got owned whenever he came up against anyone who had a half decent boxing ability. Oscar De La Hoya schooled him, Winky Wright schooled him and, of course, Hopkins schooled him. Heck, even a fresh faced Vargas came close to upsetting him but as usual ran out of gas later on.
I don't think Cotto get's schooled by any of those guys at any point in his career. Not saying he wins, but at the very worst is competitive.
Cotto deserves more respect imo
Tito had an explosive style and tremendous heart but Cotto is up there.
