Fantastic time to start, man. I'm a lot like you. Except I started fighting when I was 12.

I hate other sports. I couldn't do anything else. But I'm an excellent boxer. I've been studying the history for a long time, and I can't get enough of it.

Boxing is an intellectual game built off of technique. If you don't have the technique and the training, you can't box well, no matter how athletic you are. I'm actually a lazy prick and I don't train consistently anymore. I'm six foot and 225 pounds, and I should be between 175 and 190.

I've spent a lot of time boxing overconfident gym rats. Real strong guys. Wrestlers and football players. The bigger, the stronger, and the more athletic they were, the easier it was for me to beat them. Shows how much size matters compared to knowledge of the game.

Last guy I lost to was actually 5'6" and 140 lbs.

It's an entirely different world, mate.

Hi Jake Green, I don't think 16 years old is too old to start boxing...go for it... apply yourself, and who knows, you might really like it. As far as gaining muscle mass, well I think lifting weights is the best for that(maybe get a gym membership instead of buying your own weights). Boxing is a great cardio exercise, but so are alot of things ie. swimming, running, bicycling etc. choose what you like... Jake Green I did want to say something because I read your thread...not everyone is cut out for boxing...but if you got "heart" that is one of the most important things in becoming a excellent boxer in my opinion.
