Even if you give Khan the 2 points and he get's the majority decision.

Should a guy who claims to want and be a legitimate contender to Money Mayweather be having life and death battles with the likes of Lamont Peterson ?

    NO

Don't get me wrong. Khan will probably have the rematch against Peterson in the spring and he may well win but all the fancy talk of Mayweather has gone up in smoke. All the fancy talk of retiring early will not happen either. In a way I think this defeat is worse than the Prescott defeat. Anyone can get KO-ed.

But when someone is there toe-toe with you for 12 rounds and still standing and pushes you all the way, then that tells me, that Khan is not as good as he or F.Roach or Golden boy promotions thinks he is.

To be fair, it was life and death because the fight took place in a very small ring, with a referee who stopped....well refereeing after about 5 rounds.

In a bigger ring, in a neutral venue, with neutral judges and a neutral referee, you'll struggle to find many who'd back Peterson to pull off the same result.

I had it 7-5 Khan but there was 3-4 very close rounds. I think the problem alot of people have with the decision is the ref's 2 pts deductions changed the winner.

Bottom line: Khan was exposed and Peterson fought better than expected. I agree completely that this is a worse loss than Prescott because Lamont is a known commodity. If this is Khan's performance against Lamont, Khan isn't contending with Floyd or Berto/Ortiz or any of the other higher ranked guys at 147. Can we all agree that Bradley is the top dog at 140? Fenster? Sorry, I'm a vindictive .

The fight itself was close and I had Khan winning without the point deductions. With the point deductions, I had it a draw or very tight. While it's clear too that the referee was 100% biased, no way was it a robbery. It was too close for a robbery. Khan was outmuscled in this fight and he couldn't keep Peterson off of him. Khan didn't look as strong as he has in the past although in terms of skill there is no doubt that Khan is the better pure boxer. Isn't odd that Bradley, the supposed light puncher, put Peterson down, but Khan couldn't hurt Peterson?

Pushing happens alot in boxing, i never tought it was illegal, i see fighters do it ALL the time, sometimes its part of the gameplan, cotto pushed tony a few times, no said nothing lol, a lot of guys do it,its a technique to create space. So i learned something new ...no pushing allowed

Is pushing illegal? Did Khan excessively push compared to fights of the past?

Well i think with the point deduction it is pretty clear that Patterson won and to tell you the truth the knockdowns were kinda of joke. As for hometown thing one of the judges scored it for Khan 114-111 now thats a fucking bs right there. Khan was getting most of his shots blocked and Paterson was landing at will his connect rate was pretty high up there as well. As for pushing Kahn was fucking elbowing Patterson in the face and was warned alot about even hit Petterson on the break. I am just happy Khan lost showed his inside fighting needs alot of work. Not to mention Bradley can get his spot back which was bs in the first place for him to lose because he did not even get beat which was a joke that he could lose his spot with wins over the top guys in the divisions as well also.

    Really?

Refs usually warn guys about it. Its legal in certain heavyweight fights though. Oh well.

Pushing and holding are just ways for guys to get around being clueless infighters. You're not supposed to be able to do it excessively, but most refs are hesitant to take points for it. Its a shame really. It's unfortunate for good infighters. If you're a shit infighter you can just break the rules to try to get around it. If you're shit at distance and can't get inside, well you can just get punched in the face.

Thats exactly what khan is. The man has no clue what to do on the inside he just goes into a shell.

I thought the decision was good although I had Khan up by one point. Really close fight. The only thing that could be said wasn't good was the point deductions and knockdown. Khan was doing a lot of pushing, but at most he deserves only one point deduction. So giving a point back to Khan, and taking away the so called knockdown, I'd still have Khan up by a single point.
    REMATCH!!!!

btw-- was it only me, or did anyone also think this fight would be a snooze fest?

I think peterson won by a round, it could of gone either way tho. I dont have a problem with the ref he did warn khan alot before he took the points away. Maybe petersons head was low afew times but not all the time.

I think Peterson should fight Maidana. Then Khan the winner.

Just because it would be funny

I had peterson winning 115-112. Without the deductions he still would have won for me. Khan spent too much of the fight on the backfoot without applying enough effective pressure which meant it looked like he was running.

Have always thought khan is overated and this fight proved it. His post fight whining aint endearing either. He bitched at mcloskey for complaining about the stoppage, he ridiculed judah for making excuses and now he expects us to defend him when he loses? Nah, fuck him

I thought Khan pulled away down the stretch but Peterson put up a great effort and it was close.

There needs to be a rematch, great fight.
