I lean towards thinking Khan would stop Hatton, then I think of how Khan doesn't deal well with contsantly being chased down by pressure fighters. If Hatton could take Khan's shots, I think Hatton would win a decision, but he could just as easilly be KOed.

Khan would stop that version of Hatton imo.

A prime Hatton would stop Khan though.

Why the Hatton that fought Malignaggi? Im not sure what the distinction is there only that it was a decent performance yet not the superhuman effort he put in against Tszyu??

Ive always thought that Amir would smash Ricky to bits in quick time but now I dont think so. Amir doesnt have the firepower to keep Hatton off him, Ricky would be in like a flash and smashing hooks into Amir all night long.

Hatton by late TKO, Amir with stoved in ribs.

Im talking a prime Hatton, the one that (even if not prime) a very good Kostya Tszyu couldnt keep off. Lets allow Ricky to be at his best for this eh?

Hatton beats Khan. The Hatton that beat Malinaggi beats Khan on points. Hatton pre Mayweather stops Khan, probably with a hook to the body. The Lazcano fight showed that Ricky was never the same after the Mayweather fight, it was just a step too far. I remember at the time not being able to accept it ,and posting on here how Hatton was gonna smash Manny in the ribs all night and stop him early, and then fight night wondering who swapped Ricky for an anorexic doppleganger. Looking back his decline post Mayweather is pretty steep. Khan is better than he was in the fight with Peterson but Hatton, even the Hatton who took 11 rounds to stop Paulie beats Khan on points. Khan was still on the way up when fought Malinaggi and forced the ref to jump in during the same 11th round, Hatton's footwork was slowing down. Peterson charging across the ring as soon as the bell went, and jumping on Khan, demonstrated how a prime Ricky would stop him. Post Mayweather he was still the much more dangerous puncher compared to Peterson , and Hatton's sustained early pressure takes away Khans speed. Even with compromised foot speed Ricky would not back up, assuming he is allowed to fight on the inside and doesn't have Cortez refereeing, he wins on points.

I chose a slightly shopworn Hatton because I think prime Hatton flat out slaughters Amir Khan. A brutal stoppage in 6. Hacking to the body and then a knockout to the head.

I second this as well, Hatton at his best was a hell of a pressure fighter, it took Mayweather a good 5 or 6 rounds to really soften him up and start to pull away. I just don't see anything Khan has that would have kept Ricky's head off his chest for however long it lasted. People are really underrating Ricky to make out like Khan has an outright speed advantage, his hands are faster but footspeed is close and Hatton had a lot more method to his approach. Khan still has yet to show any infighting skills really, I don't see how this would even be much of a fight tbh.

I say Ricky Hatton quit comfortably, can you imagine Amir Khan on the ropes getting hit by those vicious body shots ? he thought Lamont Peterson's body attack was tough, Ricky Hatton's body attack was on another level Hatton by TKO in middle rounds.

I think people are over-estimating Hatton to be honest. At his best he was still an inconsistent fighter. For every Tszyu performance, there was a Pedersen performance, or for every Castillo performance, there was a Collazo performance.

At his best, Hatton was very good against fighters who threw one punch at a time. But he has never excelled against fighters with fast hands who throw punches in bunches. Infact, the 3 who he has fought have either knocked him out or nearly knocked him out. Granted you have Pacquiao and Mayweather in there, but the manner of the Pacquiao loss suggests that he is far too open to excel against this kind of fighter.

Warren kept him away from this type of fighter for a reason.
