    Default ''Boom Boom''

1.Rey Bautista: one of 'the golden boys latest acquisitions', BOOM BOOM has a bright future IMO his speed is phenomenal annd looks heavy handed. With ODLH searching for a super fight its seems that bautista will naturally be on the undercard gaining more respect as well as exposure, if i remember correctly Rey fought on the ODLH VS. Mayorga undercard...i think it was then but i did watch him and was impressed and after some research on Bautista i believe a future world champ is in golden boy promtions midst...Odlh just has too time Rey's step up right and their is the potential for BOOM BOOM to eclipse the legend of fellow phillipino Manny Pacquiao in their respective home land. I hope to see more of this hot prospect in the future. any tip offs about when he fights next would be great. Thanks for reading...hope you agree. SS

he is still young, i believe his next fight will be on sept. he has heavy hands not as fast as pacman but really heavy hands. someone should tell him not to knock everybody out in the first round! he should learn to fight conservatively, other than that he is a future champ!

Boom Boom Gives Up WBO-Asia Pacific Belt, Moves Up in Weight
    PhilBoxing.com
    29 Jul 2006

Young boxing phenom, Rey ‘Boom-Boom’ Bautista moves up in weight as he now fights in the 122 lbs. super bantam division.

“Boom-Boom is still very young and growing. He is more comfortable fighting in the 122-lbs division,” discloses international promoter, Sammy Gello-ani.

With this move, Gello-ani together with the Bautista Team plans to have Rey Bautista vacate his position as the reigning WBO Asia-Pacific Bantamweight Champion.

Bautista's last fight was a 3rd round knockout win against Nicaraguan Roberto Bonilla at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Now fighting under Oscar dela Hoya-managed Golden Boy Promotions, the Pride of Bohol will fly to the US together with trainer Edito Villamor to prepare for a scheduled fight on September 16, 2006 slated at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Said fight is an undercard for the much-anticipated Barrera- Juarez rematch.

Bautista will be climbing the ring against Moises Gutierrez of Chile. The tough Chilean sports a 15-3 win-loss record with six knockouts. A former Chilean Bantam champion, he had fought and lost against reigning WBA Inter-Continental Super Bantam champion Gabula Vabaza last March 31, 2006 in Johannesburg, South Africa for the latter’s title defense.
