What has Mosley done to earn this shot? He has lost or drew in his last three fights and in two of those fights many fans complained because Mosley just came to survive. Recall that Pacquiao got a ton of crap for facing Mosley after Mosley's performance against Mayweather and Mora. So, now it is ok for Canelo to face him? It doesn't make sense.
I'm not really excited about this fight at all but are you seriously putting Canelo on the same level as Pacquiao and Mayweather? there's a big difference in Pacquiao picking Mosley as an opponent and Canelo doing the same, only thing in common is that neither guy should get much credit for the win and neither will

I'm not putting him on that level at all. I don't think Canelo or anyone on that level of popularity should be facing Mosley at this point until Mosley has a good outing. My main point was that Mosley hasn't earned this shot. He hasn't made good fights recently. In fact, the opposite is true.

This is more a case of competitive promotion rather than competitive match making. It's maketing...that's it, and it's a case of all parties being far too familiar. Canelo is getting a name scalp here and he'll have ties and mentions among greats and elite. I think Mosley has excepted the role of stepping stone. I'm not slagging him but this is about making bank and packaging. Cynical, yeh maybe.

Great match for Canelo....just the right amount of age on Shane. Alvarez may be the 2nd to drop and 1st to stop Shane.....IF he fights correctly. Shane is still dangerous, sure he lost big time to Floyd and Manny but those guys are 1 &2 P4P, let's not act like Shane is all of a sudden a total bum.

It should be a good competitive fight, have we seen Canelo take a punch from anyone like Shane yet? Deal with handspeed? A good solid vet with a solid chin? It will be a good fight.

I just don't see this as a competitive fight and think there were better options out there. I see this as just a bigger promotion and a name to get on Canelo's resume.

Mosley will be in it for a round or two, then if the going gets tough he'll enter survival mode

Mosley has freakish strength for someone his size and will in no way be bullied over. If Mosley has anything left to give, Alvarez would be the perfect showcase opponent. He's refined his defense but he's still very flatfooted, very deliberate and if Mosley can keep him from working in combination a la margarito then he poses a real big threat. I'm not even sure the Mosley from the margarito and mayweather fights are all to different from one another. I think it's all about the styles. <br />

Alvarez is what, 22 years old? Do not write off Shane Mosley. Not in this fight.

I'm not writing Shane off in this fight, I think Shane knocks out the kid.
