The Swiss make most of their money from manufacturing, Lyle. They manufacture industrial chemicals and machinery which is why their products are not all that noticeable, but they are very significant.

Switzerland is an extremely successful economy, the people enjoy a high standard of living and the state is largely neutral.

And what of their banks? The financial sector of Switzerland comprised 11.6% of their GDP and banking represents about 5.6% of the entire workforce of that nation.


Good on them for actually putting their people to work unlike the majority of Europe who would rather tax the hell out of everyone to supply the worthless barnacles collecting welfare

The banking sector is something I am less comfortable with, but having said that, if they are being a positive attribute overall I don't have an issue with them. They are private corporations, my beef with banks is only when they start knocking on state doors. The rumours of black market banking is what it is, but banking is only part of the economy and illegal banking would only be a fraction of that. Plus Switzerland is evolving its banking practices.

It's a healthy country and does very well with a population of 7 million.

They are private corporations, Lyle. Am I alright with private corporations stealing money? No, I am not. And private corporations have done that a lot in your country recently and in many countries.

Am I impressed with the nation of Switzerland in terms of its economic development, it standards of living, its ability to own guns without killing one another and its ability to be neutral and not interfere? Totally. It is a highly developed nation.
