Default 19 year old Joel Diaz Jnr...

I havent heard too much about this kid but I thought his fight against Guy Robb was very entertaining. He looks to be good for 19 years old and hes doing some training in the wild card gym. Looks like he could be a future prospect IMO. He went 7 solid rounds in this fight and showed that he can have a fight and at 19 years old that is good.

I look forward to seeing him fight again, I dont think at 19 he should be having too many wars like this one if he wants a longer career. I think he has work to do but is showing the early signs of a good fighter I believe.

I was very impressed with him and with the resolve of Guy Robb.

Both men got off the canvas, but Diaz was certainly the more talented of the two.

I agree we would see big things from him in the future.

I thought he might be one of the Diaz bros. (Antonio, Julio), but I suspect not. Its a very common last name is all.

He's fun stuff. Very tv friendly and he and Robb combined for a tides turning shoot out. He did well to regain composure even if stoppage was a bit premature. A very entertaining fight. He's got backing and handlers, surrounded by experience. Hope for good things.

I do hope he settles down and that he doesn't get the urge to try to live up to defense free expectations though. The exposure is great but these take way to many tolls this early. The commentators repeatedly said he's being compared to a young Branon rios...double edge sword if you ask me.

I hope he doesn't behave like Rios too much.

Rios is a terror but a little fucking asshole too.

At 19 hes got a hell out a lot of work to do but no doubt the potential is there. I was reading that he had a lot amatuer fights, I wonder why he didn't want to go for the Olympics? It might have been better for his exposure on the boxing scene for his future, hes clearly got the talent and as proved in that fight hes got the wind to go solid rounds. Not sure about that, he started his pro career in 2010 so he would have been 18 just turned maybe.

Have to agree on Olympics Tam. Was his ama career long? He's moving at a fast clip considering age and once they get early exposure its not let go of easily, a taste is good but hope he gets that steady refining to make for a long go of it.
