Well as I said the Israelites were the original inhabitants of the land formerly known as Canaan. The major cities like Jerusalem were built by the Jews and so in returning to them they are just reclaiming what was rightfully theirs.

I guess if the Cannanites were still around and wanted a claim then they would probably have to be heard but seeing as God ordered Joshua to slaughter them all man woman and child then I doubt we will be hearing from them¬
