ROy on the ropes seems to not throw as many punches as he used to and he gets hit alot more along the ropes, and thats where Calzaghe high punch out put beats him IMO, but I can't see Hopkins beating him because he still faster than Hopkins and just as stylish... what made him lose against Tarver and GJ Hopkins doesn't do and thats crowding RJJ.
He ain't faster than Calzaghe now. He looked ok against a second rate fighter in Ajamu but nothing like at the level of Calzaghe.

Ajamu seemed like he was able to outmuscle Roy early on but lost heart. Calzaghe would be on him non stop for 12 rounds.

He would be lucky to hear the final bell.
Believe me at 175 Calzaghe wont be as fast than what he is at 168 Roy is a naturally bigger man and will be signifigantly faster than Calzaghe at 175 and is NOT gonna out muscle and bully Jones Roy will rip him with body shots inbetween pot shotting him all nite not a good style matchup for Calzaghe he will have to find Roy.....He can hurt Joe with his power when Calzaghe jumps in, Roy will be ripping off combos body and head all nite...

I have come to like Joe and think he is one of the top P4P guys But I think ita a bad Style Matchup for him
Taeth 7 lbs wont hurt him. He has been at 168 since he turned pro and has been finding it increasingly hard to make weight. You say he will be too slow for Hopkins at 175 lb but Hopkins spent his whole career at 160 lbs!

If he can jump 14 lbs and look better than he has in years then Calzaghe can sure add 7 lbs to his frame.
I'm confused... I never said 7 pounds would hurt Calzaghe that was somebody else... I don't think Calzaghe is as quick as Jones is when Calzaghe is at super middleweight and Jones is at light heavyweight... put Jones in with Lacy and he'll be rattling off 8 punch combinations too if he isn't backed up into the ropes and knocked out. I think that Jones could beat anyone in the middle of the ring the problem is that these days he's so easy to back up, and he isn't as hard to hit once on the ropes people come to realize that straight punches work against him on the rope because he leans straight back and protects himself from hooks also he doesn't counter punch off the ropes like he used to because he is IMO scared of getting knocked out. I think see Jones beating Hopkins because Bernard has always been slower than Jones, and doesn't try to truly pressure his opponents... in a chessmatch Hopkins would lose to Jones because of speed. As for Calzaghe I think he would give way too much pressure to Jones who doesn't punish opponents forcing him back to the ropes like he once did... though after the first round in his last fight he did a better job, but watch him against Toney he could throw combinations going back into the ropes, block a few punches, then counter with a flurry, and work his way back into the middle of the ring.
