Default Lyle - Sorry to see that about Cloud.

I know you were really high on him. He was by the Spaniard, Campillo, last night. I actually feel for you. Like you, I picked Cloud to win big over Campillo. Boy, were we wrong. Notwithstanding the ridiculousness of the scorecards--116-111 Cloud is criminal--Cloud was outright exposed. Campillo was just too slick for Cloud. Campillo was impressive. Anyone else see some inkling of similarity between Sergio Martinez's style and Campillo's? In any event, great fight. Hats off to both guys. For better or worse, it wouldn't be boxing without a little controversy.

There were times last night where I thought I was watching Calzaghe-Lacy all over again. He certainly looked like Joe when he was throwing them 5-6 punch combinations. I see some similarities between Martinez & Campillo but I'd compare him more to Calzaghe. A Calzaghe/Martinez mix isn't too shabby

The fact that Campillo was backing up cloud whenever he wanted, said everything about that fight.

Campillo was super impressive and was robbed. One positive thing to take away from the fight was that the crowd was behind Campillo and booed the decision. Certainly, Campillo earned himself another big fight.

I made the Maravilla reference because I believe they are both trained by the same trainer, Pablo Sarmiento, right? Yes, I agree with you though.

I liked when Campillo and his crew came out during the Williams fight and the crowd erupted into applause.

Right?!? At least, the crowd in Texas kept in classy for the Spaniard. His record may say loss, but he won that fight straight up.

He backed to the ropes alot but more so as tactic...he almost had Cloud on a leash in spots. Just lead him in and rip off 3,4,5 then spin off.

I feel he got robbed against Shumenov as well in their second fight, so in my eyes he should only have the one loss. But this is boxing the official record is all that matters. It's a tough place being a strong international fighter from Spain, domestically there is very little competition, internationally you are always at a disadvantage.

By all accounts, he was also jobbed in his draw against Karo Murat.

Gutty performance by Campillo, I thought he was done after the two 1st round KD's, but he sucked it up and came back to dominate the fight. I thought the ref was close to stopping the fight several times, Cloud was getting pounded.

Hopefully a rematch will get ordered, there's no fucking way Cloud won that fight.

Thats what I was telling myself. Showtime will take care of this guy and get him another big fight. He earned it. Still, he deserved the WIN, not a consolation prize.

Hopefully. Although it seems what tends to happen in these situations is that everyone avoids him, with the excuse that they don't have to fight him because he hasn't won any of his last three fights. Like, when are we going to see Kirkland or Williams or Alvarez or Cotto, etc. in with Lara at 154?

Maybe it will be different with Capillo though. The guys who get jobbed like this are usually awkward technical/defensive-minded counterpunchers. Whereas Capillo has a very crowd-pleasing offensive style. It's so nice to watch a guy who actually throws combinations (and lands).

That's a very apt comment. A lot of judges seem biased against southpaws (forgive the obvious exceptions, I am not talking about title holders or p4p guys): a lot of judges don't like counter punches and a lot of southpaws are counter punchers. If you are a defensive southpaw that likes to counter punch and you are from out of town (worse yet from another country), you better stop the guy.
