I fought to and became national champion without a loss, but when it finally did come that fall was hard as hell to deal with, whereas might have been a lot easier had I had it earlier.

I've been reading your threads on here Sandman1995, but haven't responded much, been really busy with things lately. But I will tell you what I have learned the most about this sport, as we are similar in age (I was born 1994), but started boxing a lot younger. I set goals for myself, small manageable goals, and big goals too. I had the great pleasure of hitting those biggest ones. But when I got there, it wasn't some celebration of..."Ya! I made it!" It in fact felt very hollow.

Then I came to realize what I got the most from boxing, was in the day to day grind, the training, the matches, testing and stretching my limits, the people met in and around the ring. the entire deal. In reflecting it wasn't the arriving which has meant the most, but the journey. Do the work. Wherever you and boxing end up, you'll be glad and appreciative for the journey.
    Beautiful advice.

i might get tired of boxing by then so change it up and then come back to it

I think it might be beneficial to stick with one thing for a while. But I wouldn't know, as I've never ventured into any form of fighting other than boxing.

Boxing is very jealous and resents the time you spend with others.

So you mean I'm actually in the majority in this forum in that I've never been in the ring? I feel better about myself now .

Seriously though Sandman95, do you know how much experience that other guy had? He was probably used to fighting in front of a crowd so it he was under no pressure like you were. But like they said, just GETTING IN the ring is a lot more than for most people, so keep at it. You can only get better.
