Marquez especially early on in career is easily one of the best technicians I've ever seen from beginning to near end, he could be from Mars or Pluto and it would apply. Chavez with respect was not a 'brawler'. I'm no fan really but dude was a master at punch placement and combo technique. He gets slept on at light where he was a pretty sharp boxer.

Depends on what your looking for. Mexican fighters are stereotyped big time. Even Barrera went from straight comer but transformed in later years to very crafty all around boxer. One guy for me was Humberto Gonzalez. Pretty sure he was born south of the boarder. He was a devastating puncher with his ko losses all coming in near same dramatic fashion, but he was a sound boxer too. How he turned total boxer with blood streaming down his face to beat rival Carbajal not once, but twice still blows me away. Ok 2nd was debatable but what a transition in game plan. If your going pure defensive wiz how about a Miguel Canto! A rarity who made the ring his own dance stage. Ricardo Lopez right up there. Has to go down as one of the best thinkers and explosive combination hitters there was. Foot placement was amazing!
