A really down to earth every day dude from what I saw. Best remembered here for that epic battle of wills with 'KO' Letterlough over a decade ago. Thinking Julian himself is holding the ropes apart up there welcoming Gonzalez in once again. Dude had a solid and very respectful run. Be at peace Champ.

This is sad news. One of the first boxing matches I watched as a kid was Gonzalez vs. Roy Jones Jr. He was a tough, courageous fighter.

He fought too long as many warriors do and even gave his all against Tavoris Cloud as I recall.

Guys like him, like Gatti, like Corrales, and Julian Letterlough all deserved to live long happy lives and be able to reminisce about their ring battles as senior citizens. Like Carmen Basillo or Max Schmeling.

I hope they catch the dirty coward who hit Julio and ran.

God bless Julio's family and rest his soul.

This is very sad news, I covered Julio's fight versus Jason Delisle for this site at 15 years old and he was sooooo nice to me and I sat and chatted with one of his cousins for a good hour after the fight and when my ride had popped there tire on the way to pick me up, his camp waited for them to get there in the middle of a dark . That was the first fight I ever covered and I will never ever forget that night. Very sad news. RIP Julio, I will never forget that night and your kindness afterwards. Sad :\ Gone way too soon.

Watched Gonzales lose to Roy Jones via points decision and get knocked down by Roy with a left hook. He had a good chin. Think I also saw him beat Darius. RIP Champ.
