But, I've always thought Lampley a network hack who calls matches more like a detoxing WWE commentator suffering with sever touretts syndrome. Very much a live action comic book. He is a 'good' frontman and a mainstay on HBO but honestly I find the broadcasts without him 'easier' and more fullfilling. Its like having your nagging mother in law call and cancel right before the family sits down for Thanksgiving dinner, all are free to talk amongst themselves with no ring leader

If I could name a smiley I'd name this one 'the Lamps.

Good points all, Spicoli. (I like your mother-in-law comparison).

Yeah, his calling of the fights themselves leaves a lot to be desired. I guess it's mostly his other roles I would emphasize more. If only he'd limit himself a little in that regard ("...and another hard right hand!!" when the guy probably missed altogether), and concentrate mainly on the stuff he does well. I still think he's pretty well suited to putting the whole package together. The intros... the wrapups... the stuff in between... He just needs to leave more of the fight commentaries to his partners who know more about boxing than he does.
