I don't know if this tells you more about the reactionary nature of Mail readers or the deep affinity between Brits and their sauce
HP Sauce revolt: Online fury over salt cut that 'ruins the taste' | Mail Online

    The best is this one
"Robin in Horsham, West Sussex, who wrote: ‘I have poured HP sauce over my bacon sandwiches and roast dinners since I was a boy, 45 years now, and the recent lot simply doesn’t taste the same.
‘There is a strange, almost antiseptic, aftertaste which is quite off-putting. Unbelievable [that] they should tinker with an institution. Too much salt indeed! What nonsense."

Sauce can be nice but on a Roast!

I've had bangers before they're decent enough. I (apparently unlike the whole of England) don't put ketchup on everything under the sun.

Hot dogs are hot dogs, they aren't supposed to be gourmet sausages or anything. You buy them at a ballpark or have them at a cook out or while camping....you CAN dress them up a bit and go for Brats & Italian sausages and those have a bit more flavor and require toppings like kraut, peppers & onions, etc. But your basic hot dog should be: yellow mustard, chilli, onions, slaw....maybe ketchup I usually get ketchup on mine and I'll on occasion throw some Texas Pete on there too. Beer Brats & Kraut with some brown mustard is great and Italian sausage with peppers & onions and brown mustard is fantastic as well. I don't diss your sausage, just your need to put ketchup on everything.

I'm very open minded when it comes to cuisine, and I would love to try more authentic English food, but ketchup on chicken, eggs, sausage....that to me is horrible, like the people who put the fucking marshmellows in their sweet potatoes....when I am President that shit is the 1st thing getting banned!!!

Lyle, not sure if you get iPlayer in the USA, but listen to the Danny Baker show on Saturday morning...they actually have the sausage sandwich game, which generally involves asking celebrities whether they prefer Red Sauce (ketchup), brown sauce or no sauce.

Personally, it depends on the quality of the sausage. If it's a butcher's sausage that has high quality meat and some interesting spice / ingredient combinations, then I'll usually go for no sauce.

However, if we're talking about the bog standard banger made from mashed up hooves, tail and gristle, brown sauce is perfect.

I think Lyle needs to come to England and stop in a layby on a shit day for a breakfast bap from a dirty food van with lashings of tommy K of a drop of brown.

Nothing better than food from a guy in a layby who has a certificate from the council to prove that he washes his hands after having a piss behind his mobile kitchen.

You can find good hot dogs, you just have to go to a good hot dog place. There's a great place here that makes their own hot dogs and sausages. Mustard, onions, maybe sliced tomato, jalapeno, kraut, pickles, etc. No ketchup and no chili, not a big fan of chili dogs. Or chili-cheese dogs, for most places that's just a good sign that our hot dogs are shit so lets cover them in chili and cheese so you can't taste them. Plus its just too much.

Good turkey, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayonnaise, good roll or bread. Solid.

Who the fuck puts tomato sauce on a roast dinner? Seriously... none of us have ever seen that. Fact.
